1463703 2019-09-15 21:36:00 Perhaps Allblack has had too many bangs to the head in the scrums & made him grumpy.. :devil PJ

hahahaha.......playing for the 2nd 15 at school was many moons ago. Now my grumpyness is purely down to age.
Apparently it's permitted.

1463704 2019-09-15 21:38:00 Again did you think about it ??

Guess it come back to a previous comment some people don't have a clue as to how the internet (or web pages) works.

The forum was broken, NO one can post, so please explain how they could make a post AND people could read it anyway because no one can get into the forum.

When it was broken there were the standard messages saying it had a fault.

OK, I'm confused. I thought I had already answered this.

God.
Monday's.
I'm going back to work.

I'm going back to work. No you didn't answer it. The reply was as bad as the original post.

So lets try again.

The Forum was down. HOW do they post when no one can get in ?? Why didn't you log in and ask why it was down ??

On one of the error messages there was the wording that the errors were logged and would be investigated.

1463706 2019-09-15 22:43:00 HOW do they post when no one can get in ??

The same way we've logged in!

During it's up-time's when it's working. Like now.

How is that so difficult??

They've had numerous opportunites since to let us, the users, know what's going on. There's two sperate threads running so far they can butt in on.

Yeah maybe so BUT that;s not how you posted it ;) I was referring to the longer down period. Ever thought it should be obvious that there's a problem and they didn't post anything because they didn't know the cause & were actually trying to repair it ?

ANYWAY Just got a reply back from the email I sent them on Saturday.

It still not a stable site and needs fixing. We are hoping to get it back to a consistent site for our readers but not sure how long this will take.

So there you go NOW you have had warning about it.

Did you actually write an email to IDG ( links were in error message) and ask what was going on ??? I did on Saturday got a reply Monday before 10am - cant really do better than that.

Don't be at all surprised If it has to be taken off line completely for a short time while its fixed.( most of these things do)

1463708 2019-09-15 23:35:00 Well that was fun - haven't had a good debate in ages. Everyone is so precious these days.

And I've learnt how to bold here too, so it's been productive and fun.

1463709 2019-09-15 23:58:00 It pays to actually ask them directly it seems :)

I sent back a reply thanking the person for sending the answer ( along with another comment- which I wont say what) , and got a further reply a short while after that ( which is)

I understand the community’s passion for the site it’s been running a long time.

Here’s hoping it can be resolved, it would be terrible for it to cease.

So all going well, it will continue to be here for many years to come, and if it does go down for a short time to be fixed /upgraded then so be it :)

Like most problems its actually finding the fault, then having to work out how to fix it, and like everything the fixes can sometimes take a while to sort.

1463710 2019-09-16 00:12:00 Post #24, the reply in bold is after the fact.

One can't do a damned thing when the site is down, except as wai said, there is a link in the 503 down screen to make a comment to the service provider.

For a free site 365days*24hrs, we should be thankful to our Aussie couzies.

1463711 2019-09-16 08:50:00 This discussion reminds me of my old IT department who used to Email out to all staff to ell us the Email was down.... and then again when it was fixed.
And then of course you get both Emails after it comes back, at which point they are both useless.

Thats similar to all the ISP's, when you call them theres the message along the lines of looking up {insert Web address} for common problems - No good if you are calling because your Internet is down. ;)
