| 1463904 | 2019-09-19 23:24:00 | Hi guys In an average new spec or builders or developers house do you know what sort of plugs they fit. Eg ethernet, telephone and tv. And how many eg how many rooms? Thanks |

| 1463905 | 2019-09-19 23:39:00 | Was at a new place a couple of weeks back, they had Ethernet going to each bedroom room ( no phone), including two to the Lounge. The plugs were standard RJ45 Sockets, connected to a Patch Panel (12 Port I think) in the distributor box. The distributor box was in the garage. The guy was saying the sparkie was having to come back and put in a extra Ethernet by the TV as well as run a wireless access point down the hall, as the wireless from the distributor box where the Router was wasn't strong enough to reach the lounge or the wireless doorbell. |

I've seen some where there was a network port (single) in each room....by the bed - like you would a phone in the old days. Never mind having it were logically a TV or desk would go for a tv/streamer or laptop. Just stupid things like that. |

Ive often see unlabeled network ports (lazyness) Ive seen network cable being split (into 2 ports) just to save running 1 more cable (lazyness & sloppyness) . Ive seen each room network wired & network switch installed that didnt have enough ports - some many rooms had no network connection (installer being cheap & sloppy) Ive even seen network cable left as unterminated wires dangling out of the wall (a lazy sloppy installer) . Why would you not think that should be part of the install . |

That's how it works in our current house as well, although it also has the old phone jacks for some reason. Not sure why they didn't just use RJ45 for those instead as they still do landlines  | pcuser42 (130) | ||
| 1463910 | 2019-09-20 01:54:00 | Not enough in most cases. Just finished our house recently. Anywhere a tv is likely to go we put in 3 double power points, double ethernet and double co-ax points | gary67 (56) | ||
| 1463911 | 2019-09-20 01:58:00 | Ive often see unlabeled network ports (lazyness) Dont ya love those ones :D Got sent a picture the other day from a client, the whole Office section was down, no LAN no internet, I asked on the phone if the lights were on in the router - this is the picture I got of the setup: 10009 Oh Great :waughh: --OK on my way -- got there and thankfully the outlet sockets were all labeled and actually matched the patch panel - phew. Easy enough to test the connections back to the cabinet and track the problem. |
