1460066 2019-04-20 03:54:00 ASUS dvd player not showing in Settings/Devices on Win10 ver 1809 PC.
The drive spins up when I insert a disc but nothing else seems to happen.
In 'This PC' the disc drive is not showing either.
It has worked in the past but not been played for a while.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Peter.

1460067 2019-04-20 05:03:00 If you can check the BIOS to see if it's listed there. If it's not showing up in "This computer" or the BIOS either it's not connected, has no power, the port it's connected to is faulty, or the drive is dead.
If shows up in the BIOS but not windows you could try a bootable disk like Linux to see if the drive still works.

Otherwise check all the cables are firmly connected at both ends, pull them out and plug them back in a couple times, if that does nothing try another Sata port.

1460068 2019-04-21 23:56:00 Thanks Dugi
I'm not sure what to look for in the BIOS but the drive is listed in the Boot Order.
I don't have a Linux disc, but I will re-check the cables again.
Initially I was unable to play any audio files with VLC Media Player from the hard drive but that is now fixed.
Still not able to play anything on the DVD/WR player.

1460069 2019-04-22 03:58:00 Have you tried a few different disks to be sure it's the drive and not the disk? dugimodo (138)
1460070 2019-04-22 04:17:00 its usually just a bit of corruption someplace.

Have a read through these options dvd-drive-windows-10/ (windowsreport.com) Under no circumstances install any auto driver updaters.

In the first pic after selecting hidden devices look to see if the drives sowing where it should be (CD/DVD drives)

ALSO make sure you dont have any drive emulator software installed - ( eg DAEMON Tools or such) these can cause all sorts of failures.
