1213190 2011-06-29 09:14:00 Hi All
Avira free updated itself. I wondered why some website had slowed to a crawl (Firefox) including trademe's photos

Webguard !!! I never asked for this new Avira function, nor got the option of not installing it.
I dont want this sort of FF AV add-in. They just seem to cause issues.
Disable webguard & hey presto the trademe photos load up instantly again

Anyone else had issues with Avira webguard ??

1213195 2011-06-30 23:19:00 I did an update last night and got SP2 or whatever Avira call it. I don't have webguard running so didn't notice any issues other than a popup about installing the Ask.com toolbar.

Uhm... no thanks.

I would run MSSE, but it didnt allow me to choose when I wanted to do updates - ie. manually - so out it went.

Hopefully Avira will sort it out in the next patches.

1213196 2011-07-01 03:08:00 Just as long as Windowsupdate isnt on auto, MSSE updates wont install (Well, everytime I check, there's an update there). It doesnt install by itself

I usually check windowsupdate manually or within MSSE (under update). If there's an update / I click on update, it'll update / install it

Handy to know, thanks but I don't use windowsupdate either.

WSUS offline (http://www.wsusoffline.net/) is much handier, especially when it comes to reinstalling XP or 7 :D
