| 1183944 | 2011-03-06 10:27:00 | I spent some yrs at Otago and now I am doing a part time course at Victoria. I have visited the website but it doesn't have much info. I also went there with someone who is more familiar with the campus. 1. Re: the Kelburn campus. Where are the computer labs for use in afterhours? I could only find Cybernomad (in the Murphy building). Is there only 1 room there? 2. In regards to the Pipitea city campus, in Rutherford House I understand they have a west wing which might be that door opposite the Trax pub. I tried to get in Sunday evening with my ID card but won't work. So, as a student who wants to work later in the evenings what do they do? Coming from Otago we had a lot more computer rooms. I also find Victoria had only Core 2 Duo and old furniture with cracks on the table, well it matches the smallish campus :D It's like a maze as if different faculties and rooms are on a corner or hidden under a staircase. They don't have a separate building for many of its schools, like a Commerce building, Chemistry, Biochem, Micobio, General Science. Oh and the Central Library is old as, it's like Otago pre-1999. Is there much a lifestyle on campus in the evenings and weekends? Or does the larger city campus - students prefer to go home or just head to the city. |

| 1183945 | 2011-03-06 18:50:00 | Hi Nomad Wish I could help. When I was at Vic the only computer service available was a procedure where I prepared my own set of punch cards and left them with the "lab" to run overnight. Many times the early morning result was a slip of paper advising that the set did not run because of an error on card X or Y. Good luck with your studies. | Scouse (83) | ||

The one across from that (not in the link) I could get in. The Railway Stn (West?), with my ID card, nope. Couldn't even get thru the main door  I'll call them. |

It was even worse for me S, I had a Chinese friend who showed me how to use an abacus. |
