1182996 2011-03-02 10:14:00 So I have a reasonably big claim on contents, this includes a bed and base which was in the shed (not needed) in the shed which was badly water/silt/sewerage damaged.

I'm going to claim it but EQC states that anything over $100 needs to be backed up with a valuation. I understand any store can give this but how exactly does it work. For the bed I'm hardly going to take in a soakin bed and ask for a value to replace.

The same confusion applies to a few other things as well, a bit of music gear etc

Anyone able to clarify at all?

1182997 2011-03-02 10:29:00 Not sure about this but could you prove the original purchase price via invoice? Snorkbox (15764)

1182999 2011-03-02 20:47:00 Photograph it and then take the photo to a store and ask for a written quote for replacement? johcar (6283)

1183001 2011-03-02 21:20:00 Jeez it must be a mission Huey, imagine shops are not open where do you go etc. What if your whole house is gone and they want prices for everything...
Get the make and model if you have it too, do you remember where you got it from?

1183002 2011-03-02 21:30:00 Ring up your insurance company if that is possible and see what they say. I'm pretty certain you don't have to do what you mentioned in your first post. You put in your EQC claim and the people from EQC will come round and access your claim to varify it.
