1183708 2011-03-05 08:00:00 Speaking of flies - This bugger (www.imagef1.net.nz(Large).JPG) seems to like the top left hand corner of my LCD - I brush it off and it comes right back, actually have to touch it with my hand -- it wont move other wise

The pets people keep. My cats like to watch the screen but flies no.

1183709 2011-03-05 08:47:00 sitting in the dark?? Narrrrrr My desk has a "frame" on the top, which the LCD sits in, its right at its back - with the flash off on the camera, it looks darker than it is, off to the left is a mirror, If I put on the flash you get a "flash" in the picture Example (www.imagef1.net.nz(Large).JPG). wainuitech (129)
1183710 2011-03-05 09:53:00 :) :)
The milk my parents bought was 'Co-op' sterilized, worse if possible than homogenized.

The taste of Camp with sterilized milk when I was around 6 or 7 put me off coffee for years and years until the real thing was discovered.

My mother was one of those who believed that you had to have a hot drink at night, her idea of torture was to force hot milk [edit: with slimy skin on top] with sugar on us, enough to make one fetch up. :clap

Whoops - you're right. I meant sterilized milk!:groan: :yuck:

Yep - and I remember the hot milk with the skin on top - had to be Gold Top (ie FULL cream milk).

1183711 2011-03-05 10:09:00 You want to source some DDT? You can't be serious.

No - I put it there just to remind us that back, then if something worked (ie killed the buggers stone dead - quickly) it was deemed really good - the toxicology of it all was either ignored or not known about. I remember running round the garden as a kid with a thing like a bicycle pump spraying whited DDT powder onto ants' nests! Hell, it was even puffed it onto prisoners of war coming out of the camps!

We've got one of those things that squirts by itself every so often, but like you say, with the doors and windows open it does naff all.

Might have to give those fly strips ago Wainui - thanks for that. Also didn't know flies could tell the difference between left and right! :nerd:

1183712 2011-03-05 11:33:00 What we have been doing for the last couple of years re flies - Remember the Old Fly paper Strips you hang from the ceiling ?
Better still in my opinion is the like of the Raid micro-spray. One can lasts about two months.

1183714 2011-03-05 21:48:00 Funny I was just going to start a new thread on this as I'm p'd off sitting at the LCD screen with three or four flies just loving to walk up and down it. (luckily I saw this thread)

And using Mortein Fly spray in a can and saying to my self "Why do they make this stuff" or "How are they allowed to sell this stuff"

Cos it certainly does not seem to work.

I'm glad I 'm not the only one.

I have a small room, and its very annoying.

You seem to be saying that those strips work.

1183716 2011-03-05 22:16:00 The fly strips work about as good as anything else, and theres no fumes and nasties floating around to breath in. They cost Sweet FA, so worth a crack.
Cant give a pic, as the old ones are in the bottom of the wheelie bin, but they looked very similar to This photo (www.google.co.nz %3Disch:1%26prmd%3Divns&ei=R7VyTY_kIo2ksQP4s4y4Cw)

(Tip for the day) Just dont get the sticky stuff on your hands its :yuck: to get off, but dish washing liquid seems to do a good job.

We have a raid automatic in the kitchen, that works most of the time, but you still have a spray.

SWMBO sprayed the whole house the other night with Black Flag before we went out - the place was :yuck: could hardly breath - not good for the health. When we came back the little buggers were still there, in fact maybe more  The ones that do die, then you have to go around sweeping or cleaning up the dead ones.

1183717 2011-03-06 00:52:00 So Mortein is no good and Black Flag is no good.

I should ask them for a refund.
Is there a guarantee on that stuff.

Must get some of those strips.
