| 1213921 | 2011-07-01 22:05:00 | I have been sent a new price book in Adobe PDF format for a price increase and I want to copy and paste the new prices into my Accounts program Cash Book which is Microsoft Access based. For the last 10 years I have just manually inputted everything from a hard copy to my accounting program takes about 2 days. Problem is when I try in the pdf doc to select or high light a line the cursor line is long it takes up 12 rows. If I select copy and paste for these 12 rows it pastes goobly gook like this; P1111R0000O11331255D5688U0016C22220034T2228 CODE CCCNDOOOIEPSUUUPCPPPLERLLLRIII INNN1P/GGGT4T" I111OB///444NS"""P BBB FSSSEPPPM FFFEEEMMM + GLLLLRLLLLPEEEEUAAAAOCCCCMHHHHD4444I0000S%%%%CP$$$ $ RNRN IEIE CG W E 114S 1146 LTLT(1268EI ....S0124XT1271C (OEPXLNNNNRDCeeeeI CLwwwwLGIESSSS TTTT %T CPO0000RHRH.... 0000LIAIAC%%%%INSEGTGT E CSOTMIOIOTYYYYMCEeeeeOssssKMKMNEDLDLY |

| 1213927 | 2011-07-02 00:58:00 | I copy and paste from PDF's to Web editors and word processors all the time, using "Foxit Reader" You can copy text and images on unprotected files. Some PDF files are locked and you can not copy them without a password. There are ways of hacking the passwords, but very time consuming. There is a program, "Quick PDF Converter" which will convert to 'Doc', Exel, Image, or Postscript. May not work if the PDF is locked. |

| 1213929 | 2011-07-03 19:45:00 | There's PDFs, and then there's PDFs. They can be created from a source file which is text based, or from images, which are useless for your purposes... but the two types can look pretty similar, but be radically different in how you handle them. If you've been sent a PDF which has encapsulated an image, rather than a copy of the source text then you'll be totally up the creek, and would probably have to resort to OCR to try to get your source back to a text based format. |
