I have a Medion desktop MD 8008 which I’m trying to install a Samsung 160gb hard drive but I can’t get the PC to recognize it I’ve tried the jumpers master and slave, but still no joy it’s a (PATA) is that the same as IDE or is that the problem? |

Yup, PATA is IDE. Are there any other IDE devices connected (on the same IDE cable)??
If there is, make sure one is on master and the other is on slave. Are you trying to install windows on it. And the install screen cant see a hdd? Check the BIOS see if it detects it. If it doesn't, nothing else will. How old is this system?? If its old, it may need a BIOS update, before it'll work with a 160 GB hdd |

Yes its old 2003 I can't access the bios its got their own password :help: |

Do you own it? You need to get into the BIOS, to see what the settings are on |
