| 1212865 | 2011-06-28 09:22:00 | first time build. added the thermal paste to the top of the cpu, turned the fan over and saw it was already pre applied to the fan unit. havent put the fan on yet. do i remove the paste i've added (if so how) or just plonk the fan on a fingers crossed it'll be ok. thanks |

| 1212866 | 2011-06-28 09:29:00 | just wipe the paste off and use the pre-applied stuff, or if you have a high quality paste then you can freeze the heatsink (take the fan off) and that will make it easier to get off. If it doesnt come off frozen, use a heat gun or hair dryer :pf1mobmini: |

| 1212869 | 2011-06-28 10:53:00 | Yeah, ideally you want the paste in a THIN layer, so using double the amount is not a good idea. I use a plastic scaper as well - but you can fashion a scraper out of any bit of plastic. | Paul.Cov (425) | ||
| 1212870 | 2011-06-28 11:08:00 | I use an old fashioned razor blade as a scraper and yes you do want a very thin layer. I normally use Arctic Silver instead of the pre-applied stuff. |
