do i remove the paste i've added (if so how) or just plonk the fan on a fingers crossed it'll be ok.

thanks

1212866 2011-06-28 09:29:00 just wipe the paste off and use the pre-applied stuff, or if you have a high quality paste then you can freeze the heatsink (take the fan off) and that will make it easier to get off. If it doesnt come off frozen, use a heat gun or hair dryer

1212867 2011-06-28 09:32:00 cheers, wipe it off with a plastic scraper (credit card) or tissues or ??? globe (11482)
1212868 2011-06-28 09:52:00 done thanks globe (11482)
1212869 2011-06-28 10:53:00 Yeah, ideally you want the paste in a THIN layer, so using double the amount is not a good idea. I use a plastic scaper as well - but you can fashion a scraper out of any bit of plastic. Paul.Cov (425)
1212870 2011-06-28 11:08:00 I use an old fashioned razor blade as a scraper and yes you do want a very thin layer.

I normally use Arctic Silver instead of the pre-applied stuff.
