| 1183688 | 2011-03-05 02:59:00 | I don't know what sort of summer you've had (it's pissistently raining here at the moment) but we've been troubled more than usual by flies. Some of the aerosols we've bought have been less than effective so I was wondering if i could source some of the stuff advertised in the first attachment. On a totally different tack, as a youth in the UK i used to dread going to friends houses (or a "caff"), being offered or asking for a cup of coffee with milk, and being served up with that Camp rubbish with homogenised milk!! :yuck::yuck:. The milk came in a bottle which, by rights, should have had wine in it, and had a beer bottle type top. Both were bought because they were "cheaper", and the milk lasted longer for those people who hadn't got a fridge (or had run out of coins to put in the electric meter). Did you have either in NZ (Homo milk in capped bottles and Camp "coffee", not coins and electric meters, but you nay not have had that system either :waughh:) Apparently homogenised milk can be prejudicial to health (www.naturopath.org.nz) Both ads came from the July 1947 NZ?Aussie edition of "Woman and Home with Good Needlework" Magazine. Of course, these days an ad for something that's "Camp - full Strength - fine Flavour" is a whole different ball game (if you'll excuse the pun) Enjoy the rest of your weekend. |

| 1183689 | 2011-03-05 04:02:00 | :) :) Camp "coffee" :banana with chickory essence :banana Most people of the 'working classes' in Britain had never tasted anything else, they thought that was coffee. The milk my parents bought was 'Co-op' sterilized, worse if possible than homogenized. The taste of Camp with sterilized milk when I was around 6 or 7 put me off coffee for years and years until the real thing was discovered. My mother was one of those who believed that you had to have a hot drink at night, her idea of torture was to force hot milk [edit: with slimy skin on top] with sugar on us, enough to make one fetch up. :clap |

I have found some of the cheaper brands are less effective than more well known brands such as Raid and Mortein. On another note, naturopaths can be prejudicial to your health. |

| 1183694 | 2011-03-05 04:46:00 | You can purchase a mix yourself pyrethrum spray. Spray it on ceilings, windowsills etc using a small garden type sprayer. It works well on flies but does not hurt pets or people. | CliveM (6007) | ||
| 1183695 | 2011-03-05 05:23:00 | What we have been doing for the last couple of years re flies - Remember the Old Fly paper Strips you hang from the ceiling ? We have those, and they work a treat - capture and kill the buggers, no sprays or anything. We put up some new ones today ($5 for 4) after SWMBO got pissed off swatting them away. Working instantly, catching the blighters. :devil The dog runs around and tries to catch them - so far the flies are winning  |

I have one of the raid automatics, works well but at this time of year when all the doors and windows are open flies come in |

| 1183697 | 2011-03-05 07:03:00 | Hmmm camp coffee my Mum over there still buys that although she only uses it in cooking. Milk well we lived near a dairy farm so always had really fresh milk straight from a Jersey cow, cream so thick you could stand the spoon up in it, however I do remember free milk at school (Thatcher stopped it in the 80's). Two of my mates hated milk so I used to drink theirs as well as my own, it came in 1/3 pint bottles and was great except in winter when the teachers used to defrost it on the heaters then it got a funny after-taste | gary67 (56) | ||
