1183145 2011-03-03 01:57:00 LOTTO have just announced that 50% of the Ticket Sales for this week's draw will go to the people of Christchurch. With a bit of luck the current jackpot will also go to some needy or philanthropic Cantabrian, too. :D

Or me  I could even be tempted to buy a ticket for once.

1183146 2011-03-03 01:59:00 And they'd still have profits in the millions.

IMO, they should ALWAYS give 50% of ticket sales to some charity or another.

1183147 2011-03-03 02:05:00 There will be no sheep buying Lotto in New Zealand this week :( Zippity (58)
1183148 2011-03-03 05:13:00 Sheep are entitled to free tickets. R2x1 (4628)

The problem as I see it is; 50% of the Ticket Sales for this week's draw will go to Christchurch folks. If sheep are entitled to free tickets, they will not have paid and therefore will not have contributed to the fund.

Baaaaah :(

Lotto is obliged by law to give away part of its take to charities. I suspect that this week all of lottos other charities get put on the back burner.

Why don't people donate all the price of their lotto ticket to the Christchurch Earthquake appeal and go without lotto for a week.

Well done lotto, making profit out of peoples misery!

Surely free tickets do not attract prizes.

1183153 2011-03-05 01:47:00 At the end of the day we are all going to pay for this event wether anyone donates or not. I think everyone is entitled to their winnings. Lotto could afford to give a few millions anytime they wanted. Gobe1 (6290)

Yes, I'm not saying don't donate to the "Christchurch Earthquake Fund", I'm dissing lotto for using the earthquake as advertising to up there profits.
