| 1215030 | 2011-07-05 03:09:00 | My query as to why the POST on my new Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4-B3 MB always reported 16MB less than the installed 4096MB resulted in a number of suggestions - including one from Agent_24 to ask Gigabyte directly. Why didn't I think of that? Here is what they told me: Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. About the issue you mentioned, due to standard PC architecture, a certain amount of memory is reserved for system usage and therefore the actual memory size is less than the stated amount, so basically the situation you described is normal. So it seems my guess as to what was going on was not far off the mark. This is the first time I have seen reserved memory excluded from the POST report. That's progress, I suppose. |
