Not sure about the main cities but it seems the most damage is by tsunami at the moment. so far no news of large scale building collapses. Hopefully japans EQ codes are good and damage is minimal |

Each year had extreme weather events . " But it doesn't mention greater than average earthquake or volcanic activity at those times . |

Also the article is a tad sensational, doest talk about the extreme weather events that occurred outside the years of 1955, 1974, 1992 and 2005 without a "supermoon" . Earthquakes happen all the time, bet not many here can recall the quake in Iran that killed 15,000 in 2003, we remember the ones our media likes to focus on . |
