A question though for gamers who overclock the 2500k.... Why?? I got one, was tempted to overclock it, but no game comes close to being CPU bound at stock so whats the point? I intend to put a better cooler on mine eventually, but until it struggles to do something I don't think I'll bother overclocking.

Well, I cant say for myself, however there are any number of people out there CPU limited with anything over 2 x GPU, especially the big units 2 x 6990 or 2 x 590 is very bottlenecked even up to 4.8Ghz....

1214120 2011-07-12 03:38:00 ok granted, but by bottlenecked do you mean the framerate is < 60 fps due to the cpu? I doubt it myself but I guess it's possible. dugimodo (138)

Im not sure of the FPS, but driving 3 x 25x16 with all the eye-candy etc....you need as much CPU power as you can get.....While the GPU's are rendering each frame, the CPU has to keep them fed with data to crunch while doing Ai, and o/s as well!

1214122 2011-07-13 00:28:00 Hmm, is that the Rev 2 version?....Does it have the bolt thru kit?...The push pin fasteners are a waste of time...however if it does, you will be fine for 4.3 - 4.6 Ghz
It is the rev 2.
it does have those "push pin fasteners" but also screws to the mobo.

so it's OK to oc with the Rev 2?

Did you already buy it?...hyper 212+ is cheaper and has bolt thru kit!...Doesnt matter if you have, push pin isnt as good as bolt thru, however is better than stock!
