Reminds me of a guy called Monty and the below is a joke adapted for conditions in New Zealand:- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Monty walks into WINZ and wants a benefit. WINZ:- What is your name? MONTY:- Monty. WINZ:- What is your last name? MONTY:- I only have a first name and that is Monty. WINZ:- How did that come about? MONTY:- I was christened Monty Dangleballs so I was Mr Monty Dangleballs. I then joined the church and became Rev Monty Dangleballs. At school I got an honary doctorate later. This made me Rev Monty Dangleballs MD. Later I became a lawyer and became Rev Monty Dangeballs MD QC. After that I joined the Army and became Reverent Major General Monty Dangleballs MD QC. While there I also got a Victoria Cross So now it is Rev Major General Monty Dangleballs VC MD QC Then I got knighted while still in the Army so I became Major General Sir Dangleballs VC MD QC. While also in the Army I got VD so I became Major General Sir Dangleballs VC MD QC VD. When the church heard about the VD they took away the Rev. When the school heard about the VD they took away the doctorate When the Army heard about the VD they stripped me of my rank and removed the VC as well. When I was a schoolboy I thought that Lt. General the Lord Freyberg was the best Governor General you could ever have. He paid a visit to Westport one year and all us kids assembled in the Westport Domain. I remember he was dressed in an Army General's blue uniform. He really didn't want to see his New Zealanders soldiers killed needlessly, But was fearless himself. Seems unbelievable after General Haig and his mates only 23 years before.	prefect (6291)

The only trouble with becoming a republic we will only have some one else sucking on the NZ tax payer to a far greater extent. Most States, of which NZ is one have a State Governor - all the OZ States have one, as do the US. I'm not sure of the exact constitutional relationship, but I think a State Governor is the deputy of the Head of State. In OZ the Governors deputise for their Governor General (for the Queen), in NZ, we have only one i.e. the Governor General (again for the Queen), and in the US, the State Governors (deputising for the President. So tread warily here, you are challenging the basis of much western constitutional law. :D	WalOne (4202)
