1184551 2011-03-09 00:59:00 Personally i hate tats with a vengeance, I find them tacky and crude at the best of times. However I know plenty of people with them and the vast majority keep them within the shirt zone gary67 (56)
1184552 2011-03-09 01:28:00 I think Siobhan has the right approach in dressing for the occasion (i . e . covering the tats or not), and being cognisant that what she can get away with at PC World may not sit too well with a more conservative future employer .

In a previous existence, some job applicants haven't got past the interview stages with me . They all displayed crude tats (i . e . the concept and work were both unsophisticated) .

Having said that, some tats I've seen could be described almost as stunning . One young applicant had a full face moko, with almost a subdued "wash" effect . It was a brilliant rendering of classic designs and I gave this applicant the job . Some of the body art sported by Sonny Bill Williams is likewise impressive, and not offensive .

1184553 2011-03-09 03:18:00 Not far from where I live there is a hall and about 7 years ago hosted the NZ Tat Convention or something like that. Should of seen them all outside the back smoking dope etc.

1184554 2011-03-09 03:34:00 I think ALL might be a bit of an exageration. DeSade (984)
1184555 2011-03-09 04:49:00 All doesn't nessesary mean all it depends in what context you look at it, but to clarify my point I shall say some.

1184556 2011-03-09 05:47:00 I have no tats, and never even contemplated them, but I wonder what grandchildren or great-grandchildren might think at some time in the future when they see grandma/great-grandma or grandpa with 'tasteless' tats, because tastes and standards do change, and yesterday's cool might be tomorrow's yecch!

Personally I am especially put-off by women with facial tattoos (other then maori mokos, and I'm not too keen on those either) or excessively prominent body art and piercings . Some end up looking like a badly graffittied scrap metal yard .

Then again, I'm no oil painting either, so some might be put off by my natural appearance, but Mrs T thinks I'm lovely and that's all the counts really .

Cheers

1184557 2011-03-09 06:12:00 I've been considering getting a tattoo for a while now, if/when I get it, it would be within the shirt zone.

Don't wanna get some band logo or some silly design, rather have something meaningful, something that I can look at in 20 years and still be glad I have it.

1184558 2011-03-09 06:22:00 Always wanted something on the inside of my forearm but I think a lot of it depends on what exactly the tattoo is. A few words or a small design is a lot different to a sleeve for example.

Also I personally think the 'earthquake' tattoos are tacky. Especially if you didn't lose anyone. Why be reminded for the rest of your life of a day that (assumption here) had as much of an impact on you as it did a good percentage of Cantabrians. Personally if I were to get a tattoo I'd get something with significant meaning to myself. But to each their own.

And another thing is it depends on your uniform. Are you able to wear a long sleeved shirt under your uniform? Or is there a jacket type uniform option? No idea where you work.

1184559 2011-03-09 06:28:00 Get a tat saying "Nortons - made for Vista - get them both".

Your chances of a job with Apple are pretty slim, which could be a good thing

I'm with you there Billy T . The only tat I have on me is an accidental
one from my school days when I accidently stabbed my finger with a fountain pen .
