Would a new router/modem help to maintain a higher speed? Currently have a Netgear DG734G v.4 and am thinking about the NetCom one.

1184281 2011-03-08 03:11:00 Thanks for that, Chill. I have someone who can check out the wiring, at least. Roscoe (6288)
1184282 2011-03-08 03:20:00 Cool! Check www.telecomwholesale.co.nz and see if you should be able to get ADSL2+ at your place. If you can, then great! However you may be 2KM or so from the Exchange, hence the slower sync speed. Getting a "decent" modem, and checking your home wiring would eliminate most of the things at your end of the scenario leaving you to presume that you *are* a fair way from the Exchange if things don't improve.
If you're on a Cabinet, you should be getting significantly higher (10mbps upwards).

Loving the ping results from fibre - now if only our manager would open up the speed a bit more
