1184191 2011-03-08 05:49:00 I like to see before I buy, but JB do have some very nice prices... hueybot3000 (3646)
1184192 2011-03-08 06:09:00 This (shop.jbhifi.co.nz) has caught my eye but reviews suggest it smells like burning/dies after not so long.

Any owners here?

1184194 2011-03-08 07:35:00 Wow that sony is pricey, thanks alot for that list.

A question though, are plasma's still as power hungry as they used to be?
hueybot3000 (3646)
1184195 2011-03-08 07:51:00 Yes plasma uses more power but if you live in an average climate that simply means you get a bit of extra heating. All good.

I'm looking too. The large LCDs are very good now, plasma is a little cheaper and a known technology. By accident I discovered the viewing angle problem with LCD: was in a shop and glanced across at an LCD which looked rubbish...until I was nearly in front of it. Everyone says viewing angle isn't a problem now but I'm not convinced.

Panasonic lead the plasma market. The U series is good, X is bottom, and V high-end.

Samsung are rumoured to be releasing new models soon at which point the current machines will be discounted. Worth knowing.

I'm considering 46inches, Panasonic U. About $1450.

1184196 2011-03-08 07:56:00 A little heat never hurts!

Im very interested in the below, seems to have good reviews and full hd which is always a plus. It basically ticks all my boxes. Not too badly priced at $1900

Panasonic TH-P50U20 (www.dse.co.nz)

Where does that fit in with the series?
