1185149 2011-03-11 01:26:00 I have just bought a new tv it has freeview built in and im having trouble with tv3 c4 four and tv3+1 all those channels come up with a banner saying bad signal, which is strange cause all the other freeview channels are as clear as a bell and i have checked all my connections and aerial and all is fine, have rung tv3 no luck there either.
I live in christchurch so im just wondering if the transmitter in this area has died from the earthquake anybody else having this problem.

1185150 2011-03-11 02:34:00 Freeview channels run on different transponders.

TVNZ (tv1, tv2, tvnz6 or u, tvnz1)
Canwest (tv3, tv3+1 c4)
Mediaworks (I think) Prime, Maori etc.

It is entirely possible that one transponder is having an issue with low signal, that one of the other ones has no problem with. Have a look through your tv settings and see if you can see a signal strength, unlike analog if your signal is low it just wont go or it will - the quality will be the same. There is not such thing as ghosting any more. So the fact that your tvnz transponder is fine means that it could just be a slightly higher (but still not 100% signal). Make sense?

It's still entirely possible you have low signal strength.

1185151 2011-03-11 02:46:00 Have you checked your location www.freeviewshop.co.nz

Is your aerial/chimney still pointing in the right direction?

1185152 2011-03-11 02:54:00 Have done everything you mentioned i have had freeview before using the same aerial but since the quake i think as you say the transponder into chch must be stuffed. Hitech (9024)

That often happens with us. We have FV satellite and on rainy days the TVNZ tp drops out but all the other tps work fine.
