1184359 2011-03-08 05:06:00 I'm looking at getting a 13" (or 14") later this week or next...

MBP is at the top of the list ATM, with all it's awesomeness it's still a decent graphics chip (see other thread) and I am not liking the low resolution screen.

I have looked online, and the ASUS N82 looks nice, but I have looked on DSE, Nole Leemings, etc.'s websites and found nothing.

I don't want to go over 2k, but I would to spend less.

No less than 4gb memory, dual core (quad would be nice)

What do ya'll say?

1184360 2011-03-08 05:19:00 well from a mac user, I will say go for the mbp. Hey if you don't like osx you can always chuck W7 on it and still be left with some mighty nice hardware plod (107)
1184361 2011-03-08 05:44:00 Pity you want 13", as the Eee 1215N is a really nice 12.1" netbook :D pcuser42 (130)
1184362 2011-03-08 05:53:00 I can live with 12" :)

Will look into it.

Will it play HD video?

They are hard to come by at the moment.

1184365 2011-03-08 06:08:00 Bit over 2k, but macbook air. Quick with an SSD, decent res screen, plays HD with ease. Alex B (15479)

Of course - HD video playback is the reason why I bought it :p

I had to buy mine from Computer Direct in Penrose though (they do ship orders), as Cicero said they're a rarity at the moment. The 1215T may be worth looking at as well if you don't mind Windows 7 Starter.

1184368 2011-03-08 06:40:00 Can you tell me what you like/don't like about it?

W7 doesn't bother me much.

How is the battery life?
