1216234 2011-07-12 00:08:00 Hi guys,

At work we have a shopfront window that we want to set up a screen displaying a photo slideshow & animations to run 24hrs a day - basically like one of those electronic photo frames, but bigger.

How the electronic photo frame works is exactly how we want the bigger screen to work: simply supply power and USB thumb drive with the photos & animations and it will continually loop, turn on and instant slideshow.

We have a spare 18” LCD PC screen I was thinking we could use, just not sure how to set up the photos & animation to auto run with minimal input. We have a very old PC that we could use, but this would mean we would have to start the PC, then load the slideshow which would require a mouse etc?

My questions:
1/ Is there a way of setting up the PC to auto-run the animation as soon as it is switched on, without having to load the slideshow manually each time?

2/ Are those media players like this one: www.trademe.co.nz capable of making the LCD screen into an electronic photo frame? (I know it doesn’t have the same input cable as the LCD screen tho??)

3/ Is there another option out there that would do the same thing?

Hope this makes sense.

Appreciate any advice & ideas, thanks!

1216235 2011-07-12 00:41:00 A while back I put in a WD media player in to a persons place, mind you it was running through their LCD TV, and that played a slide show from a USB drive.
No PC required, just a power point to power it up. Depending what connections are on the LCD will also determine if something like that can be used.

Similar to This one at ascent (www.ascent.co.nz) Scroll down the page to see all the features.

Sounds exactly what I was after. However it looks like the screen only has VGA input, not sure this will work with media player?
