2011-07-11 06:28:00 | Hi, I have an HP Proliant Ml150 G2 server that I got given. I did a reinstall of MS server 2003 that came with it. I was updating it yesterday from Windows update, of which there was about 100 updates. When I tried to use it today, I could not see it on the network. So connected a screen and keyboard directly and started it up and all I get is a blank screen. Also the disk LED is constantly on. I have tried: Removing the RAM. Outcome:subsequently it starts bleeping. Disconnecting everything (inc HDDs) (apart from the necessary for it to start)to see if I get anything. Outcome:nothing Any help would be awesome. Thanks

2011-07-11 07:06:00 | Also the disk LED is constantly on . Not a good sign - that can mean The motherboard is trying to access / detect the Hard Drive and cant . One cause could be a HDD or connection (cable) failure . Edited: Where you wrote "(apart from the necessary for it to start)" is that with the hard Drives completely disconnected - no HDD's at all ?? If its a drive/Connection problem, then you should get a screen coming up complaining of No disks found . Got one of those here today - I was going through some old HDD's checking if they are any good, same thing, HDD light on solid, nothing on the display at all - was like that for over an hour -- It was a failed Seagate drive the 7200 . 11 series, with faulty firmware .

2011-07-11 07:38:00 | That is with no Hdds connected at all. I was hoping that it would tell me that there are no HDDs connected, or something like that, but I got nothing. I will try another cable and post back. Thanks

2011-07-11 07:56:00 | I have tried another cable. I have had a look at all HDDs when they are plugged in. They all seem normal. I have tried starting it up with only the system disk in and all the others out and also the other way around. No luck. The thing that I cant understand is that if everything is disconnected (inc HDDs) i should get an error message telling me so, ie no hdd detected. But when this is done the screen is still blank. If i let it keep running it does not show on the network.

2011-07-11 08:16:00 | yes. It is not posting, and from what i can tell, not starting, yet fans are running and HDD spinning. | Samk (15406) | |
2011-07-11 08:27:00 | If you've tried RAM, then motherboard or power. | inphinity (7274) | |
2011-07-11 08:54:00 | Is there anyway of testing the power so that it can be ruled out? Also when I remove the RAM the computer beeps does this mean that the BIOS is working? | Samk (15406) | |
