1215808 2011-07-10 00:03:00 I am using Office 2010, and want to calculate differences between dates, some pre-1900. As excel Day 1 is 1 January 1900, it doesn't to recognise earlier dates. Is there some way to avoid adding 100 years to all dates. I would prefer not to do this as it could produce a one day error at leap year as 1900 wasn't one and 2000 was. I have tried MS help which didn't seem to, and searched F1 forum where I couldn't find anything relevant. Brucem (8688)

For compatibility reasons Excel treats the year 1900 as a leap year.

1215811 2011-07-11 00:08:00 Thanks coldot, xdate works well even if it is a bit cumbersome. Brucem (8688)
1215812 2011-07-11 00:10:00 Did you try adding 400 years instead of 100? 400 years should mean the Days/dates all align, as well as the leap years.
