Make the fines the same as breaking a liquor ban. 14 years too far away please make it sooner. |

The're already getting into the price range where the local dealer can compete on a commercially viable basis. People will still be smoking, they just won't be paying for your healthcare any more. |

Those that do get hold of it will likely be a lot more moderated in how much they use if they can't find it in shops. As for DIY smokes - many might find the growing, drying, cutting process more bother than it is worth - but at least it'll be smokes free of additives and flavourings. I'd be pleased to see this happen. I'd also be interested to see what changes happen with our mental health services as a result. Smokers make up a very high proportion of the 'off balance' folks that mental heath services have to deal with. The question in my mind - did the smokes throw them off balance, or did they begin smoking because they were off balance? |

Back when I was at school (and this is 7-8 years ago), buying a cigarette used to cost a dollar. The tinnies were 20$. (AS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCHOOL DAY) Every now and they you'd see crims drive up after school selling 10$ a pack for stolen smokes. Buying drugs like ecstasy or marijuana is VERY easy. |
