| 1186001 | 2011-03-14 00:22:00 | Telecom's Wire Maintenance Contract is $3.06 per month. Do you have it? I just noticed it on our bill and am thinking of cancelling it. I don't know what it would cost to get our home wiring repaired or checked, but we have only used this service once in over 10 years. BTW, does the Wire Maintenance Contract only include wiring inside the house, or from the pole to the house as well? |

| 1186003 | 2011-03-14 01:07:00 | I keep it for peace of mind even though I'm perfectly capable of rewiring the house myself. Down to personal choice really. It covers your house wiring, everything up to the telecom demarcation is already covered unless you somehow deliberately damage it. If you have a fault and report it and it turns out to be in the house wiring then unless you pay this fee you are liable for the cost of repairs. Over the course of several years it is very likely cheaper not to pay this, but it prevents sudden unexpected costs when dealing with a fault. |

Every Tech I know ditched this fee years ago, myself over 11 years ago. So in honesty you didn't know about that fee till now I would suggest that your not really savvy enough to stop this fee. At $36 a year it adds up. 15 years in this house and we have only used the Wire Maintenance once. I am quite capable of doing the work myself so today I will cancel the contract. BTW I don't mind "sudden unexpected costs" in this regard. |
