| 1185681 | 2011-03-13 04:00:00 | Hello all, I'm Joe, I'm 17 and I'm completing my A+ course in another 3 weeks. I'm wondering after my full diploma(september or there abouts) is complete, out of which city should I pick. Auckland and wellington are fairly expensive, but apart from christchurch there my only options. I wouldn't say no to a Job opportunity in christchurch but I fear Auckland/Wellington are my only real options. Can I get some feedback on these citys?? Keeping in mind that unless I get someone to flat with I've been looking at 1 Bedroom apartments (Bedroom, Lounge + Kitchen, Bathroom) most seem to be going for between $300 and $500 in these city centres, however with me expecting to be earning only $40-50k per year thats quite expensive... anyone know of cheaper, better options? otherwise what apartments are recommended and does anyone know the procedure for getting your own telephone/internet connected at one? and what are the better areas for internet around there. ...and what are the expected speeds, will probably be with orcon on 130gb+ per month so yeah, I can use the speed lol. so many more questions, but i'll leave you guys to mell over those for now. Thankyou, Joe |

There are plenty of cheaper homes for rent in the 'burbs and the trains are really good (they've all been upgraded recently). |

| 1185685 | 2011-03-13 06:26:00 | Yeah .. 1 bedroom apartment to yourself is gonna be more. To have the main room, the kitch and bathroom to one person would cost more :D But then many couples get a 1 bedroom so the costs are split towards 2 working adults. Depends on location you want. As a part time student, I seen ads, for a student they do cost $160'ish for a room - shared house with others in areas of Thorndon etc .. Transportation would cost approx $140 a month (on the bus) at the main suburbs. If you want something to yourself. There are studio apartments. They could be found on the Terrace, Hunter St () a few shops from ESPIRIT (Lambton Quay!). I think the best apartments are on Tory St close to the shops like Moore Wilsons, Warehouse etc .. walking distance to walk in CBD, the vege markets to the movies, Courtenay Place and the cafes and obviously Aotea Square or is that Waitiangi Park  across from New World City Supermarket but those are v v expensive. $600k - 2M to buy :D One could nip out for a coffee or a hot chocolate late at night if ya bored and not stick with instant/plunger stuff. Great pple meeting place too. |

| 1185687 | 2011-03-13 09:35:00 | Transportation would cost approx $140 a month (on the bus) at the main suburbs.$135 for a 30 day pass (Go Wellington) gets you unlimited travel through all zones - not just the main suburbs . Any retailer with Snapper available can load this for you. |

Any retailer with Snapper available can load this for you. I use the green Mana buses - $3.60 per trip I think :D They don't have all you can use cards. Just the 10 or 20% discount when you get the reloadable card. I think the trains are cheaper and you can also get the early bird as well or after peak times. |

Any retailer with Snapper available can load this for you. $135 will get you unlimited travel on Go Wellington buses (zones 1-3 - everywhere between Churton park/Jville to the south coast), not the Valley flyer or Airport Flyer :) There's a $199 30 days pass that will let you go on any bus. |

Jville/Churton doesn't use Go Wellington buses right  They use Mana. Didn't know they had all you can use cards. Thought that was just Go Wellington or else there is a $160 abouts Platinum card right? Or is that the $199 one? |
