1186430 2011-03-16 22:47:00 I think Key and Co have done worse TBH, and it gives me the shits! We have people in GOVT deceiding whats best for us and acting accordingly... Last I recall, govt was voted in regarding govt spending, education, taxes etc...nothing about what I should do in my leisure....but hey, legalise whoring and homosexual and all in good with the world? doesn't really matter what it is, it all has an effect that someone won't like.
Sue Bradford may as well have stayed.

1186432 2011-03-16 23:00:00 I'm a non-smoker but did smoke for 10 years. I don't particularly like it to be honest and intend to never smoke again. In regards to voting and which party I vote for, I've never voted so don't hold one above the other.

Doesn't it kind of go against human rights to make a law saying you can't smoke any more? Sorry for the naive question because it's probably dead obvious to others but to me it seems ridiculous. Even if it is smoking, which stated above, I don't particularly like.

I think so, but I could also say the same about smoking dope, yet that is illegal!

We could say anything that goes on in your own home short of murder, rape etc is your own business, after all, whoring and homosexuality were illegal for centuries, yet are now all good!

1186434 2011-03-16 23:07:00 So it's basically going to come down to non-smokers voting for the law and smokers voting against. Tasha (16262)

That's called minimal logic.

All right as far as goes, it is far the whole story.

"Doesn't it kind of go against human rights to make a law saying you can't smoke any more?" Good point. What ever happened to "as long as it doesnt hurt anyone else you can do what you like?"

1186439 2011-03-17 00:20:00 Only smokers I know that support National are Asian. The sort of person that smokes now days must be of low intelligence and normally has a low paid job.
Hardly a National voter

While I think it is wrong to say that smokers must be of low intelligence, it is noticable that many who smoke (and drink) come from the lower socioeconmic areas whereas smoking and drinking are not as prevalent in the more educated classes.
