1186410 2011-03-16 20:25:00 Well it does look like Prison occupants will get healthy after 1st July as smoking will be banned in prisons from that date.

They can't even stop P and cannabis from being used there at the moment though.

1186411 2011-03-16 20:57:00 I think the prisoners may get a bit of smuggled tobacco but its a good thing in one way because they will have to have pretty furtive drags on the butts because the staff will smell it and search the cells.
By having a little baccy not very often this will string their addiction out and cause them mental and psychical anguish during the periods they cant have a puff.
The thought of filthy crims going thru addiction withdrawal practically all day if they get a little bit makes me very happy.
Victims of their crimes would be happy to know they are suffering.
See there is a silver lining in every cloud.

They'll be able to smell the use of cigarettes while they currently can't smell the pot?

1186414 2011-03-16 21:20:00 Only smokers I know that support National are Asian. The sort of person that smokes now days must be of low intelligence and normally has a low paid job.
Hardly a National voter

By that logic drinkers must be lobotomy patients on the dole?

Goddammit! I don't want to be on the dole!

1186415 2011-03-16 21:21:00 Sorry prefect, National voter and inhaler of smoke here. :xmouth:

Anyway, smokers by no way cause a strain on the health system in NZ, the amount tobacco is taxed here in NZ is insane, all the stupid bastards drinking/eating too much and having to get health care in regard to those issues cause a much larger strain on the health system than smokers ever will.

When was the last time you heard of someone smoking too much, then going for a drive and killing innocent people? Or beating their wife etc etc

Not trying to ban alcohol (I love it too much :D) but we all do things to ourselves that ultimately ends up speeding up the date of our demise - as long as we don't harm anyone else in the process - who cares?

I could say something about second-hand smoke here...

1186417 2011-03-16 21:30:00 I have just about had a guts full of smokers at work I strain myself not to whack the offender over the head accidentally with a crowbar.

I smoke.
Therefore I am of low intelligence and have a low paid job.
And of course am not a national voter.

I have to say though, I do not ever find myself wanting to bash people, with or without crowbars.
Perhaps an anger management course would help you.

1186418 2011-03-16 21:41:00 Wanting to crowbar smoker in the face is a little different to actually doing it.
When carting hay bales in the summer I have said I would kill for a beer but not actually done it yet.

I understand this, and its the arrogance of the smoker that is to be blamed.

I always stand away from people when smoking, and when I see people sitting at bus stops etc blowing smoke around all the non-smokers it pisses me off.

Consideration is a 2-way road.
