1185451 2011-03-12 20:24:00 Thank to all for your input, going shopping this morning, tending at this point towards one of the bagless varieties, not witing of any at this stage. Just up to the best deal now I guess. Will update later. rny (6943)
1185452 2011-03-12 20:40:00 Don't get a bagless one, you will regret it, I also have experience with a number of these although not the Dyson, the ones I have used require tedious dismantling and cleaning of quite a number of filters and parts quite often for them to keep working correctly. zqwerty (97)

1185454 2011-03-13 02:42:00 Well, it's a done deal, after narrowing down the choices to "Electrolux" and "Dyson", both bagless and similar price, the deciding factor was the ease of removal of the canister for emptying. The "Electrolux" one looked like a clear winner untill the salesperson went to remove the canister. It did not seem to be an easy operation, and furthermore looked rather fragile in it's attachment. The "Dyson" on the other hand, was much easier to empty and appeared to have a much more solid fixing of the canister. Yes, we realise the periodic cleaning of the filters will be a pain in the proverbial, I feel that the saving in not continually purchasing bags will outweigh that.
Thanks again for all your comments, they were all taken on board before a decission was made.

1185456 2011-03-13 04:09:00 That is why I rearly respond to these sort of posts. Most times the OP has made up there minds before they post, or they get something else than what people recomend.
