| 1186629 | 2011-03-16 00:28:00 | Hmm, well I've just turned 21, after a few quick calculations I would think around 2.5mil would be a sensible amount, to live well but not extravagantly, and have enough for the occasional holiday/cruise/whatever. If I wasn't working, though, I'd need a whole hell of a lot more, because you've gotta do something to fill in the time! |

| 1186631 | 2011-03-16 00:36:00 | Well we currently live on around $42k a year and are comfortable, once the teenager moves on we will be even more so so that figure raising each year by the amount of inflation + GST should cover it | gary67 (56) | ||

| 1186635 | 2011-03-16 00:40:00 | At this stage I'd start by helping out a few people I know in Chch, and pay off one or two mortgages. Then build an amazing home theater room. And put the rest away. |

| 1186638 | 2011-03-16 01:09:00 | That's why I didn't specify the % only that it needs to go up by inflation + GST But if you are asked how much you need to retire it can't be a fixed figure as such can it? Said figure has to change according to circumstances. Do you figure in enforced retirement due to medical conditions which may or may not occur but does happen? |
