Do you see who this Letter To The Editor is signed off by?

A representative of "cuttingthecarbon (http://www.cuttingthecarbon.co.uk/)" - hardly an unbiased view...

EDIT: Sorry, the FOUNDER of cuttingthecarbon

1185405 2011-03-16 18:12:00 That in fact is quite true.

It is also true that the government advice in the event of a nuclear attack was to put a brown paper bag over ones head.

This wouldn't work today as there are hardly any brown paper bags around, and using a plastic bag substitute would be a melt-on disaster :banana

Can we substantiate these so called fact?

Well, I remember them well, your memory must be failing Cic.
But in anycase you can read it on the internet, therefore it must be true:

pressf1.pcworld.co.nz

It was also advised from memory in the Government Pamphlet on how to survive a nuclear attack.....wapedia.mobi

As far as cheap, virtually no cost electricity was concerned, that is just a well know fact for those who were around.
You also have to take it as true from an ex-employee of English Electric/GEC Power Engineering...:)

1185410 2011-03-16 20:32:00 Gee, its not looking good in reactor 4.

They were storing the rods in big pool (it was not in operation at the time of the quake) and now the rods are overheating and the pool caught fire !

They are trying to drop water on the fire from a chopper.

And they say they heave nearly got a power line to the power station, so hopefully that will help get things running again.

1185411 2011-03-16 20:34:00 The reason I don't like nuclear power is the problem of disposing of the nuclear waste and storing it for hundreds of years ...

And moving the spent/reprocessed fuel around the world on ships and trains - high risk

And thirdly the problem and cost of dismantling the power stations.

Still not gracious enough to apologise I see. And wriggling.
What do your psychic abilities have to tell us about the thinking Cicero?
