| 1185376 | 2011-03-15 03:58:00 | I am most definitely in Brisbane, been here for 6 years since retiring - Why as a Kiwi do I choose to live in Brissy, it is more livable than any of NZs big cities, and they treat retirees better in Australia than they do in NZ, not that that is hard. Also got more than fed up with NZs suffocating political correctness, and the multiculturism bullsh*t. I go in for open heart surgury at the end of the month to replace a badly torn Mital Valve. Timetable, Problem diagnosed January, saw cardiologist beginning of February, two in Hospital tests done before end of February, saw cardiac surgeon a week ago last Monday, operation within 3 weeks, and this is on the Health system not going private- Chances of getting this operation in NZ on the public health system at age 70 - near as one can get to a big fat zero - in NZ at my age the problem would kill you before you got anything out of the health service. Sorry guys for going OT on this thread but I can't let him get away with this rant BS is all I can say to your statement "Chances of getting this operation in NZ on the public health system at age 70 - near as one can get to a big fat zero - in NZ at my age the problem would kill you before you got anything out of the health service." I had a new valve and a bypass 2 years ago in Wellington Hospital for free and I was 73. Probably most of the rest of your snide remarks about NZ fall into the same category |

The earthquake was big, the tsunami was devastating, and all they can talk about on Close Up is the radiation which is hardly going to impact on New Zealand. I think some people forget to nuclear bombs were dropped on Japan and no one here at the time went "I wonder if the radiation will hurt us" |

God does everything have to disintegrate into an argument here? There are a number of japanese citizens who are rather worried about the reactors. The govt there is a wee bit concerned too. It's not about you and your opinions on whether or not you like them or think it's a worry yourself. It's not about medical treatment in NZ vs Aussie either. |

The nuclear reactors were part of the deal. You are seeing a new version of the same thing happening in NZ since 1980 or so if you're not blind and wrapped up in the local good vibes from the political parties who were until recently following by rote the missives from the right wing american think tanks. |
