1215896 2011-07-10 11:59:00 I think it is failing . I have reloaded the OS and after a while it freezes now and then, it pauses and then resumes and the video driver may crash .

I have run the bios HD checker and it gave a error .

I have also plugged it into the PC (it's SATA) and it gave a bootup chkdsk I think .

I have used Speedfan the quick test came was fine but the extended test said it was interrupted by resets .

I am not going to run Memtest86 - how long should I run it for?

Not relevant to HDDs. You should run the manufacturers diagnostic software.

1215899 2011-07-10 22:21:00 Speedfan just uses SMART, and failures there are a good sign of problems. As suggested, run the manufacturers diagnostic utility, but I'd suggest it'll find problems.

Running Memtest86 for an HDD fault is like hoping that a faulty oven at home gets noticed when you take your car in for a WOF.

1215900 2011-07-10 22:55:00 Thanks, I will use the laptop's boot diagnostic CD which checks for an array of stuff :) Nomad (952)
