2011-03-21 08:59:00 | I have just read througg the whole thread. Great replies thanks and very on topic! So in summary it seems that what you are saying is the Macs have finally caught up with PC's value wise, no too much dearer. And that aside from the corporate world who still use Windows and the gaming market, a Mac is a better deal for the average computer user who just wants to run the internet and do pictures and home videos etc. And who does not want to build or update the computer (ever ?) So I'll stick with my PC but my friend will probably keep telling me how good his new Mac is.

2011-03-21 09:53:00 | I use macs and Pcs. I agree that there are some tasks that pcs are better suited to than macs and visa versa. But I have been using both systems for years so maybe I have figured out which task is better handled by which system. I could never go just PC, maybe all mac with a vm or 2 in there. :2cents:

So I'll stick with my PC but my friend will probably keep telling me how good his new Mac is. Sounds about right, on too my second mac in what I think is about 7 years. Current one going on 4 years in august. Never had the need too want to upgrade parts in current one except ram and harddrive, which I have done myself. Never upgraded any pc before I got a mac either. As for gaming, thats what I use a console for. Anyway PC gaming is dead:badpc: As for peoples reasoning that there isn't enough software for them, could we then say the iphone is the best smart phone out there because it has the most applications? Going by some statements in this thread that would make it true:2cents: |

2011-03-21 10:14:00 | Price wise I wouldn't put them that far off pc's . E . G Macbook: . co . nz/product . php?p=621515" target="_blank">pricespy . co . nz Thinkpad: . co . nz/product . php?e=516027" target="_blank">pricespy . co . nz also add an AV and office to the thinkpad and your pretty much equal . Yep not far off . But would not you need to compare to a Mac Pro book, as the Thinkpad is a corporate laptop . For a decent size of the market there are pro's - not the majority . One could compare brandname PC/laptop to Macs and they are similar priced both the consumer and corporate lines . Granted you cannot build a PC or play so many games or utilities . But in terms of what average Joe and Jane does and what School A or B or Corporate A or B does . In the PC world, there are many people that like various sexy looking PC laptops and willing to pay with their wallets . . . . .

2011-03-21 10:15:00 | Anyway PC gaming is dead:badpc: Meh, Ignorance? PC gaming is huge, and so is the sales of game capable video cards.Perhaps your just outside the intended market, being a Mac user and console fan.PC gaming won't die until the PC market dies, and thats a way off yet. As for peoples reasoning that there isn't enough software for them, could we then say the iphone is the best smart phone out there because it has the most applications? Going by some statements in this thread that would make it true:2cents: Apps add functionality so yes its a strong argument, when balanced against the cost of the hardware, the capabilities of the platform with consideration to the OS and hardware quality and performance. All of which combine to define the user experience. A better question is what does the iPhone do better then the others? If its merely more apps then its a fail as Android apps will outnumber iphone apps very soon if they don't already, and they have the advanage of an open platform and no requirment to use junk like itunes. Personally I like my iphone, Its just a damn shame its crippled by itunes, My next phone will be an Android, and just adding drag and drop to the features makes it a superior platform.
