Yeah, well one of the things was I didn't know whether it was ever released in NZ, but as you can see from the link "survey of British film critics in Total Film magazine chose it as the greatest British film of all time." At the time it was really significant for "the culture".

I must have by-passed that culture, as it appears I never heard of that film.
Let me see, 1971, had recently left GEC Power Engineering, sold my Black Shadow to a bloke from J&S Pumps, started a job in Dorset in January '71 and bought a house there later in the year, but can't recall that film at all.
But then Dorset was like stepping back a hundred years.

Hmmmm..... I went down to Cornwall in '73, but, come to think of it, I'm not sure I went to the Cinema there. Probably picked it up on TV later! :cool:
