1216482 2011-07-15 21:56:00 You could kill UAC, add more ram sometime. If you want SP2, you can come to Mt Eden, but then you'll have to waste petrol to get here lol Speedy Gonzales (78)
1216483 2011-07-15 23:27:00 I think I'm done then, heh.

If UAC adds any security at all against viruses and spyware and the like, then it'll need to stay on.
Ram, not a chance at the moment. As i say, sister's just moved house and ram hasn't been on her to buy list for years.
And SP2 will have to wait too, since I don't even have a license.

Thanks for the offer though, much appreciated :)

1216484 2011-07-15 23:48:00 Or put XP / linux on it. If you can figure out how to use it. Doesnt matter if UAC is on or off. If you get infected with something it wont stop it lol. IMO, its crap Speedy Gonzales (78)
1216485 2011-07-16 00:32:00 With only 512MB of RAM you are just wasting your time.

Of course the CPU isn't great as well and the HDD is probably not a 7200RPM model either.

1216486 2011-07-16 04:25:00 Alright well I'll stuff UAC too then.

As I say I have an XP license, but I would rather keep them for my own systems. (In fact, they're uni licenses so I don't know if giving them to family is an option)

1216487 2011-07-16 05:43:00 If it is allowed - are you really gonna use WinXP? Win2k support has discontinued, WinXP would be next up I gather. Personally I would just spend $60-80 and issue sorted. Be it Ram or a additional Win7 license for yourself and use the WinXP. Nomad (952)
