| 1187716 | 2011-03-20 07:47:00 | Yes the first few posts of this thread have been made by the forums smart a r s e s, so just ignore them helensun. :) I resent that statement. Perhaps the OP should wake up and get himself a real life. |

In any case, forums often implement some sort of inactivity rule, I would agree that 0-3 posts (and no login for 2 months maybe) should be cleaned. Keeps things tidy and all that. On other forums I've found it makes browsing the memberlists a right PITA. I wanted to find someone with a - in their name, I had to browse 7 pages or so of people with -, --, --- before their name before I found the guy I was looking for. Most of the ones I went through were either throwaways or inactives. eugh. This situation reminds me of this (xkcd.com) |

But only in numbers greater than is required to shut up the males that will go 'oh wow a girl in our hobby that's rare we must get with her' shut up because it'll be common enough that it won't matter anymore. or something. |

| 1187722 | 2011-03-20 08:37:00 | I know girls that play DDR now. Not many that play counterstrike though. I don't personally know any that like my other hobby, but I know there's millions. |

| 1187723 | 2011-03-20 09:29:00 | Yes there are probably alot of inactive members here who should be deleted. I saw someone once who had a birthday an they were 90. I wonder if they are still alive. | Trev (427) | ||
| 1187724 | 2011-03-20 09:38:00 | I recall this was brought up a while ago, someone suggested that FairFax might be using the member count of the forum as a bullet-point while negotiating with advertisers, but someone (Chill IIRC) mentioned that only the amount of posts/threads was used for that, not total members. As for pruning them for a speed boost, computer says no, any boost would be very minor, very minor. The connection between your PC and the server would play a much larger factor, combined with the advertising bloat... actually, nix that last one... |

| 1187725 | 2011-03-20 09:49:00 | I have many 0-post accounts on forums only because I wanted to view an attached image or download a file that was only accessible by signing up. I may in future wish to post on some of those forums, and I would be a bit annoyed if I found my account had been deleted. It also impresses some people when I come across an obscure forum, say "Oh yeah I probably have an account for this" and promptly sign in.... Given the negligible difference it will make to server performance I think leave them be. |
