1187469 2011-03-20 00:08:00 I image one hard drive to another on a regular basis and I check they work.

I also copy files off to an external hard drive.

1187470 2011-03-20 00:50:00 x2, the sooner they do away with these stupid flash video players the better, will result in less lag....

Flash has its place, and that's for cartoons of Salad Fingers, or playing Centipede....

but not for videos (youtube) of flash animations like salad fingers. Seriously WTF. Why make a video of a flash animation your only converting it to a a more f***ed up version of flash.

1187472 2011-03-20 22:04:00 yes I've been doing backups ever since the 1980's onto 5 inch floppy disks.

I have a very complicated manual system that I have typed out.

But the thing is it keeps changing with the media and the size of the files. And in what folders I keep them.

Eg to CD rom, to DVD to pen drive and now to several hard drives.

I have got a couple of hard drive stored at another place.

But it is hard keeping track of it all. Movies and pics etc.

But I do daily backs up of my actual "data" word docs, spreasheets and databases etc.

But sometimes you get busy or lazy and miss things.

1187473 2011-03-20 22:17:00 Such is the reason for automated backup programs? Agent_24 (57)
1187474 2011-03-20 22:23:00 Since I am about to go out so all computers will be off I have just manually run both mine and SWMBO's backups. Including the monthly C drive images gary67 (56)
1187475 2011-03-21 23:30:00 one thing I see a lot, people do backups, and good on them, but NEVER try them out -
A good time to try out a backup is when you've decided to re-install from scratch. One of the problems with Win7 is that it doesn't have the same need for regular re-installs...
