Then MS Office just becomes another software on top of the MacOS platform . I don't think Mac are that much better but a large trend of that market does use Mac incl pro's and authors in that regard . But generally speaking I think if you are not building your own PC, if you are just going to purchase a Dell or a Compaq, Mac's don't cost that much more . Many people are not too much into games or little utilities . They just want a computer that works and does the job . And I agree that Windows computers have copied Mac's - the gloss screens, the GUI . . . . . Personally I have been tempted with photog, but won't change given where-ever I go they use PCs . |

2011-03-21 05:20:00 | Well, I really like, and enjoy using my Windows machine, but I love my cutesy w00tsey little Macbook! I can do everything I want to on both machines, but I do spend a lot more time on the Windows one, constantly having to keep it updated and run scans and use a LOT more security on it than I do the Mac. I do feel however, that neither is better nor worse than the other, they just have different uses. LL +1 they have quite different uses. I personally prefer Mac even though I probably spend more time my pc (@ wanui see sig :p). I find that the OS is layed out better and crashes less (built on unix). Also I find that Mac specs don't matter very much as I find mac very efficent with the way it runs its hardware. (supose thats 'cause Mac can be optimised to suite one type of hardware ie Intel cores since it's not open to other computer companies). Price wise I wouldn't put them that far off pc's. E.G Macbook: pricespy.co.nz Thinkpad: pricespy.co.nz also add an AV and office to the thinkpad and your pretty much equal. However Mac's are no where near as upgradable and the graphics cards in them are goodish for image editing, adobe suite and video editing but are famously shitty for gaming :p. Atleast valve ported almost all the games 2 mac yay! BTW 1: Windows copied Macs GUI and features badly. BTW 2: @ GoodiesGuy a P4 (not the pentium kind ) is so out of date even I wouldn't use it so they way you're treating your Mac is hardly a refrence to the quality of the computer. Also they're not "far to simple" the GUI is just layed out in a way that is in most Mac users opinion's "nicer". I'd like to see you name something that a PC can do that a Mac can't.

2011-03-21 06:01:00 | getting a trojan. theres something that a pc can do, but a mac most likely wont. although mostly stupid people get trojans.

2011-03-21 06:03:00 | I'd like to see you name something that a PC can do that a Mac can't. Run about 30 trillion free apps. That aside, dollar for dollar the PC kills a Mac, A $1500 Windows based computer configured for video editing will crush a $1500 Mac. Provided of course the PC wasn't configured by a twat or a supermarket brand.

2011-03-21 06:06:00 | Gaming has been mentioned as better on PC! That is not really an issue anymore Cic as you can run Windows on a Mac and use that for games if you are that way inclined. Mac users though are generally more interested in doing something constructive with their computers.
