Funny how a thread can go off topic. Wasn't this about ownership?

So, it seems an eminently suitable time for an appropriate tune:

1187753 2011-03-20 09:55:00 The Romans left Briton a long time ago possibly in the 5th century. The land would surely now belong to the British. Over the centuries the land would have changed hands multiple times. If I were to buy land and there was a building on it then I would expect ownership of the land to include the building. The Romans should be told to take a running jump. Bobh (5192)
1187754 2011-03-20 18:03:00 It seems to me that they are re-writing history, like some other groups still living in the stone age I could mention.

They didn't themselves actually build the bridge, they used conscripted local Celt labour and local stone quarried by conscripted Celts.

There would be a stronger case for the Welsh to claim that bridge maybe ??

We call it the Roman bridge, therefore it is a Roman bridge.

Prime Minister Cameron is talking of acquiescing! This PC world has a lot to
answer for.

So rename it as the 'Stone Bridge'. It may have been designed by the Romans but surely it belongs to the British or Welsh.

Quite why the Welsh came into it I am not sure.
They were never welcome in Derbyshire.

1187757 2011-03-20 19:12:00 As a Kentish Jute, I have just put in a claim against the Italians, Danish, French, Germans for reparations for war crimes committed against my people by the aforementioned Romans, Vikings, Normans, Saxons.

Also a claim for reparation for loss of land, buildings and language.

I am also claiming against the Catholic church for all of the above plus the subjugation of my peoples pagan beliefs

The Welsh are of original Celtic descent

1187760 2011-03-20 19:47:00 I'm sure that there must be some Treaty of Waitangi lawyers who would love to jump on the gravy train saying that Maoris must be given half of any payments as a result of this legal action.. paulw (1826)
1187761 2011-03-20 19:59:00 160,000,000 sestercii coming your way. Don't

The Brits

2 billion US dollars?

Sweet! Although somehow I think the bridge is worth less yet somehow I deserve more!
