1187584 2011-03-19 20:40:00 I certainly hope we have parents like that here. Parents who take responsibility for teaching their kids right from wrong need to be applauded.

Unfortunately here the expectation is that CYFS, schools, and the police will raise our kids...

1187585 2011-03-19 21:54:00 My mum taught me to never hit first, only in self defense. I took bullying all the way through school, not often winning my fights, but never backing down.
Got alot of crap from a couple of kids in primary, one trying to strangle me despite being twice my age. The only exception I took to hitting first was when an intermediate level kid picked on a really small kid, so I went and one hit the bully in the eye.

Intermediate I got picked on by a lot of black people.
High school I got picked on by everyone.
Got me kicked out of the accelerant class, and my two main bullies got left in. The two major incidents were when they threw a pipe at my head, which narrowly missed killing me, and the second was when they pushed me into some shelves and I whacked one over the head with a plastic chair.
The teachers claimed I had serious anger management issues.
The bullies never finished highschool. They're both major drug users now, one recently was in a car accident and almost had his arm amputated.

I don't wish them dead. Else they won't be able to suffer first.

Anyway, TL DR - bullies are the scum of the playground, youtube has simply made the problem more visible and prominent. (before now it would rarely have made the news, now it makes great primetime viewing) And they don't do it because they get picked on or have home problems. I mean yeah some do but at the same time all bullying comes from two things -
Either they're malicious bastards or they're trying to make others feel worse than they do.

Yeah, good on the kid, good on the dad.
I was about to say stop videotaping the bullying, but no. Video it, nab it, then use it as evidence.

1187586 2011-03-19 21:55:00 Yes, my children know dam well what I would do if I ever caught them doing something like that. I have dragged a couple of children home to there parents house because I caught them picking on younger children in the neighbor hood. Even had parents threaten to call the police on me for doing this. plod (107)
1187587 2011-03-19 22:10:00 Then damn well threaten to tell the cops what their kids are doing. And then tell the cops that the parents condone and encourage bullying.

Bastards.

1187588 2011-03-20 00:15:00 Good on the father for doing what he did. His kids needed a short sharp shock. I know of parents who do nothing and hope that their kids will realize on their own that what they are doing is wrong. In this case the father acted quickly and rightly to intervene. Hopefully his actions will stop his kids from behaving like this in the future. Bobh (5192)
1187589 2011-03-20 01:32:00 I'm 100% behind the Dad from Ipswich. No doubt this will teach a lesson his two kids will never forget ... forfeiture of their car and horse would mean a serious impact for the rest of their lives. That the proceeds from the sale of their possessions is to be given to the victim ... great stuff. Sensible parenting without physical violence. WalOne (4202)

.

Sounds like they were right . Funny how everyone else was the problem in your world view .

1187591 2011-03-20 07:42:00 I'm not even entirely sure how to respond to that.
All the teachers ever really saw was my reaction to them taking jabs and hits at me. If I did have anger issues it would only have been because I had nothing but constant torment from them leaving me on an incredibly short fuse to begin with.

And I wasn't particularly normal in class anyway, I was (still am, pretty much) a clown thanks to having zero social skills.
It did pretty much stop though after I decided to take up their idea of me being gay. I think at that point they pretty much figured I was too repulsive to hit, which was fine with me.

Anyway I've gone off track here, what was your point anyway.
