1187361 2011-03-19 00:15:00 What is there that's very, very loud, rugged, largish screen, biggish keys.

Don't care about features, not interested in it doing anything other than calling and receiving calls.

Preferably something that doesn't cost a fortune.

He has one now but it's on the old network, and the plans don';t suit and there are no other choices except for XT, and in any case we'll be forced to XT next year anyway. And no 2Degrees is not suitable, and he won't go Vodafone.

1187362 2011-03-19 03:23:00 Went into a telecom store a few days ago, saw nothing but overpriced ZTE handsets and overpriced smart phones. Telecom is looking cr*ptastic. I'd look at someplace other than a telco store.

Can't recommended anything off the top of my head though.

1187364 2011-03-19 07:17:00 A cheap brick phone should do the job, you can pick them up for 100 or less

1187366 2011-03-19 20:26:00 I suspect not about the type you are looking for . Tried looking on TradeMe?? paulw (1826)
1187367 2011-03-19 22:47:00 They have just launched a new one: R54 (store.telecom.co.nz). Supposed to be 'ruggedised' and splashproof and good for 'clumsy' people....

Not particularly cheap though....

1187368 2011-03-20 06:35:00 The Samsung i9000 with Gorilla Glass!! :D Chilling_Silence (9)
1187369 2011-03-20 07:45:00 i9000t you mean, the general "i9000" does not support 850Mhz WCDMA (I fell into that trap :p)

I was going to say i9000t as well, in in Korea they have cut the prices because of the Galaxy S 2... in NZ they still charge an overrated $999.

Unfortunately cheap rugged and large buttons don't come in one phone anymore. those trusty nokias aren't in the game :(

1187370 2011-03-20 18:55:00 ...and they're gonna stop with Symbian within the next 18-odd months and start running WP7. Chilling_Silence (9)
