1186969 2011-03-17 19:02:00 I've read one of your articles in this month's PCWorld regarding the "comfort games" that one enjoy, like comfort food. I thought it was an excellent article - my comfort games are C & C (not the latest cr*p), and then TT. Just one question - how do you manage to play Transport Tycoon Deluxe on Win 7 - using Dosbox or something?

1186970 2011-03-17 20:34:00 I'm a graphics whore so any game I am currently playing is my comfort game heh DeSade (984)
1186971 2011-03-17 21:22:00 Age of Kings or Warcraft 3, and if I'm feeling particularly gluttonous - Company of Heroes.

The older RTS games are so fun and relaxing to play, love them :D

1186974 2011-03-17 22:53:00 Sarel did you have it working on XP? Gobe1 (6290)
1186975 2011-03-17 23:23:00 I love TT, so much so that I discovered OpenTTD (www.openttd.org).

It's true to the original, but also improves on it.

Hi Sarel,

I run it on XP, through Parallels, on my MacBook Pro, and on XP through VirtualBox on my beloved desktop PC that runs Windows 7.

I do recommend openttd, too. There are a few nice additions that make it less frustrating than the original, even. There's a really big Russian community that play TTD that follow my blog. Go figure!

DosBox should work too - I used that to try playing some really ancient games, such as Bard's Tale (!!) and Pool or Radiance (!!!). I soon regretted trying...
