Swinging the wrecking ball. He still hasn't got over being a failed woodwork teacher.

1186871 2011-03-16 20:59:00 Brownlee is a fat grinning tough ape, I have met him face to face, been in his presence for an hour or so and been presented with an award by him, shaken his hand.

My first impression which is the one I trust these days after countless correct assessment of a8seh8les over the years was that he is not a person I would want to hang round with, however that doesn't mean much as I don't like most people I meet lol.

1186872 2011-03-16 22:03:00 With his public utterances, Brownlee has effectively given the demolition brigade carte blanche to do whatever they like. Knock it all down without thinking seems to be his approach.

I don't have much time for anyone in the current National Cabinet, but it is sad to note that Canterbury has been given the dross out of that lot to deal with earthquake related issues. Brownlee and both Carters; and that repellent McCully was 'representing' us in issues related to overseas people who were missing or confirmed dead, and making World Cup decisions as well.

What has Canterbury done to deserve crap like this? First, they sack a democratically elected council and replace it with their handpicked hatchet people based upon a report invented for them by a mate of theirs - Wyatt Screech (what happened to 'no taxation without representation'?), then they treat Canterbury with disdain by the poor quality of their chosen Ministers.

BTW, what is it about the name Carter and politicians? If my name was Carter, I would be changing it to avoid being linked to the current two and the other one (from Te Atatu).

Protests today.

Nice loud protest in Hagley Park tomorrow will raise more awareness of what is being done behind the cordon.

1186874 2011-03-17 21:36:00 interesting take that the national emergency plan gives them probably as much power to do as they want as the anti terrorism act Gobe1 (6290)
1186875 2011-03-17 22:44:00 Glimpses I have seen of the cordoned off area, plus anecdotal evidence from people who ran through the central city during and after the earthquake as they searched for loved ones, namely my brother and my daughter, leads me to believe that the area is really munted and will take years to rebuild (10 to 25 years) as will the residential houses.

Don't believe all the P.R. being spouted down here things are quite bad even houses that look ok from the outside on closer inspection have all sorts of damage which are just going to be bogged over and painted.

The whole city has been shaken more than a few times very violently there is damage everywhere.
