Motherboard - MSI 990-fxa gd80 ( . msi . com/product/mb/990FXA-GD80 . html" target="_blank">www . msi . com) Video Card - MSI R5870 Lightning Series ( . guru3d . com/article/msi-r5870-lightning-review/" target="_blank">www . guru3d . com) CPU - AMD Phenom II x6 1090t ( . anandtech . com/show/3674" target="_blank">www . anandtech . com) RAM - Gskill 2x2g 1600MHZ PSU - Corsair TX750watt . Basically with it all installed, he turns it on, and his motherboard shows Error 54, on the LED Debugg panel, he cant find any info except it was apparently a RAM issue . So we tried working RAM from my Computer and He bought an El Cheapo and tried it . Still the same . The Monitor displays nothing no matter what . It is a working monitor . Hard disks turn on, and this computer has never been turned on before . He has the right video card cord, and connected . He's replaced his Motherboard, and a bigger power supply . tl;dr, New computer, won't display anything on screen, LED Debug panel shows error 54 . What is error 54? Thanks in advance . :help:cool: |

| 1218089 | 2011-07-21 06:33:00 | Do you have a spare video card? Try with another video card and see if that works. I recently built a PC and found out the new video card was faulty. The PC would not start with the new card, but worked fine with my older card. Got a replacement for the new card and that worked fine. | ronyville (10611) | ||
| 1218090 | 2011-07-21 12:21:00 | The manual doesn't show codes that match, just the ones that should come up during start up and it does say the CPU is supported here (pt.msi.com) (fourth from the bottom) I don't have a spare video card at the moment, but I could use one from my mates once he gets his back from repairs. |

| 1218092 | 2011-07-21 23:51:00 | seems like error 54 is memory not seated correctly, but that's a dubious google result from a forum somewhere so I'm not certain about it. You mention a new motherboard, and trying different RAM so it seems like either the CPU is faulty or unsupported as already mentioned, or you guys are making a fundamental mistake somewhere. Go over all your connections, make sure both power connectors are connected correctly to the motherboard and all headers/ jumpers are correct. Disconnect all drives and try booting with just MB / CPU / RAM Make sure the Memory is seated correctly, installed the right way around, and check whether the motherboard requires it in specific slot configurations - some boards require pairs in the correct slots to work. |
