1217511 2011-07-18 08:06:00 Time to upgrade at home, was looking at some nice i5 sub $1000 notebooks.
I need lightscribe as I get paid now and then to burn lightscribe dvds.

But I notice only HP are doing notebooks with lightscribe burning?
I never want another HP - seen so many just up and die. I know, I know, the Probook range is much better but I avoid HP in principle.

So - what's up with lack of lightscribe? When I bought my last one about 4 years ago, nearly every dvd burner in a notebook was lightscribe, but now pretty darn rare?

Not aiming to start a pro/anti HP post though...and not wanting to print DVD labels, or direct print onto DVDs, just want lightscribe.

Thanks in advance

1217512 2011-07-18 08:18:00 Well you could always get a external drive plod (107)
1217513 2011-07-18 08:23:00 That's because hardly anyone uses optic disks anymore everything is external hard drives. I use a printer and print on my CD's instead, I do have a litescribe drive in this comp and have never used it for that gary67 (56)
1217514 2011-07-18 08:24:00 Yeah thought about that but it's another $100 or so, and then there's the hassle of having it externally, but I am expecting to go that way..was just hopeful there was a model out there in my price range etc. FAB (6923)
