1188438 2011-03-22 07:53:00 I want to buy a denon avr receiver from america in order to avoid paying an extra $600 nz, The price is $330 US but im finding a lot or overseas sites don't deliver to nz does anybody know which is the best site to go to to buy things like this im aware that there will be a shipping cost but it will still be cheaper than nz dollars. 1188439 2011-03-22 08:51:00 You will have to pay GST on the import from memory, thats 15% on top of the 330 USD, in the end it may just be easier to buy in NZ The Error Guy (14052)
1188440 2011-03-22 08:51:00 I have found that the best thing to do is to have it shipped to a US address, and have them send it out to me. Fortunately we have a relation over there who is willing to do this for us; hopefully you do as well.

If you do it this way, it is sometimes a good idea to have the American addressee open the package to check the contents are undamaged - or you can assume the original packers knew what they were doing, and that the contents will be safe. If there was no observable damage to the packaging, it just needs re-addressing and sending on.

There is an outfit in the USA that will do this. I cannot remember who they are but you could do a Google search or a search of the F1 Forum. I have bought software from the UK but if you try to for instance download software from Microsoft you are told that they cannot export to NZ. Must be something to do with trade agreements.

1188443 2011-03-22 09:12:00 Bobh - you reminded me that this was covered recently on PressF1 in another thread. Apparently there is more than one crowd that does this, and one is cheaper than the others??? Someone who posted that may care to re-post. John H (8)

1188446 2011-03-22 11:18:00 Is $600 really enough of a saving given all the extra hassle?
You still have to pay freight and gst on anything over $400nzd. Coming from the US will it have the correct powersupply?
What about warranty? The local distributor here in NZ probably won't help unless the unit comes with an international warranty.

I've used www.buyusa.co.nz
They have an agent in the US and ship specifically to NZ with an office in Auckland. I found them cheap and efficient but the items I bought were small with no shipping charges within the US and didn't attract any GST. Check them out.
