1188355 2011-03-22 05:00:00 Sigh, i was afraid this would happen. Right side of my earphones started failing again, which is basically a sign that the wires have been pulled out partially from the jack(the thing that plugs into your MP3 player). Probably the most common cause of earphone failure.

The simple and cheap solution to this is to simply cut off the wire as close as possible to the jack, and resolder the remaining wire portion to a new jack. Good as new, costed me like $10 in Singapore at a hardware store, takes a couple of mins.

Anyone knows of a store in auckland that does this?

1188359 2011-03-22 06:42:00 Yeah, do it yourself, just make sure to tin both the wire and the terminal before soldering them together. Makes it a lot easier. pine-o-cleen (2955)
1188360 2011-03-22 08:09:00 Mind you, some of that earphone wire is diabolical to work with - I'd be seriously considering just buying another cheap pair... MushHead (10626)
1188361 2011-03-22 21:30:00 I agree with MushHead. The wire in earphones may not be easy to solder if you do not have some soldering experience. Pato (2463)
1188362 2011-03-22 21:45:00 Maybe a auto electrician?. They re-soldered my car starter brushes for about 8 dollars, because my Iron died. kahawai chaser (3545)
1188363 2011-03-23 03:32:00 Yea the reason why i don't want to get a soldering iron is because thats another thing i have to bring back at the end of the year, and i don't want to risk screwing it up.

Auto electrician...hmm...is that basically a mechanic?

I have seen our local sparky Dale Auto Electrical ( Soldering would be a acquired skill with them; Or could try electronic appliance stores, our local one is Lims Electronics (http://www.limelectronics.co.nz/" target="_blank">www.autoelectrics.co.nz/) wire up complex stereo and alarm systems in late model cars. Soldering would be a acquired skill with them; Or could try electronic appliance stores, our local one is Lims Electronics (http:) who do repairs. Maybe contact online a few stores...
