| 1188715 | 2011-03-26 01:17:00 | A simple sticker, yes. A large one, no. IMHO I don't think such organisations that work away in the background get enough free publicity/promotion/recognition. They don't go all out with bells and whistles, that's not usually their style, but if someone with a high public profile mentions any such connection that can be worth more than thousands of stickers. Maybe I am being a little cynical, but sadly it seems to work in this world of froth and bubble. Well said Marnie. I used to ignore celebrities promoting charities (thinking they were promoting themselves) until I went to India with Habitat. Prior to leaving, TVNZ and TV3 had no interest in Habitat's group of volunteers, but when Brad Pitt showed up on site in India, suddenly it was newsworthy here. I'm perplexed that anybody would think a simple sticker for Salvation Army, Red Cross, St Johns etc on your car window was showing off. :waughh: |
